Right now i want... :)
I HAVE A NEW TOY!!!!
a BEAUTIFUL 15inch aluminum powerbook! i'm all smiles, this totally makes up for the sucky start to my day. While the software updates are optimizing, i must name my new baby.
Naming a Computer is such a personal endeavor. Much consideration (ok, so usually too much) goes into it. Recently, my naming schema has revolved around music; my computers/hard drives/ ipod have been named: Opera Rat, Lyric, Soprano, and Mezzo.
Continuing in that vein, i wanted to name my (new!) laptop something with an association to Interlochen. Looking at the cd from the final All-State concert, my favorite pieces were Offetory, the Ave, Locus, and Heart we will forget him. I decided to pull from Heart We Will Forget Him, as the poem was always spoke to me, and the music is glorious. The name, however, is too long. So i looked to the author, Emily Dickenson. Emily, besides being the name of the author and my favorite aunt, is the name of my childhood friend who was killed in a car accident 2 weeks after my 16th birthday.
So, as a nod to my friend that i love, the place that i love, the music i love, and the poetry i love, i name my new laptop Emily.
Long may she rein.
