can you imagine how different our world would have been if the FCC had allowed Bell Labs to introduce wireless phone technology in the 40s? :) i smell a movie. a novel. a series of short stories. a card game or six based on how wireless phones could have affected the end of ww2, vietnam, the cold war, and so on. very interesting stuff.

like i said, shock of all shocks, cnet actually has a thoughtful, interesting, and valid editorial today on why the FCC should fucking die already. i like it :) the editor who wrote it also looks a lot like my buddy jeff who works at cern, so, yet another reason for me to find it amusing.

it's been a good geeky day: the release of Airport Express and AirTunes has set the technologists' hearts all a twitter, and again, i'm so glad i work at this company. Apple rules. and i have to say, i love reading posts like this on slashdot:

And I was getting so psyched last night because I got my Via EPIA board loaded up with Fedora and XMMS, and could finally stream my favorite streaming audio site [kexp.org], albeit with Ethernet cable (Wi-Fi was on my project plan), and pipe it through my office stereo.

And this little beauty will plug right into the wall socket by my stereo for a lot less money, less hassle, etc.

Anybody wanna buy an EPIA, slightly used?
