Right now i want... to know what band is play at the wwdc beer bash tonight

so, like i've said earlier, wwdc is this week. every year on the thursday night of the conference there is the beer bash of the year, this huge party for all of the developers and apple employees to mix and mingle and chill and drink and listen to good music while enjoying the lovely cupertino weather. and every year there is a band that plays in the quad, a "live concert" if you will.

the first year i came to wwdc there were rumors that Bare Nake Ladies was going to play; for the record, they are one of my favorite bands and i was SO excited. of course, they weren't the band, instead it was a semi-crappy semi-famous new age group that was pretty boring, but, i was on apple campus for the first time and someone snuck the then very under age me a beer, so it was still pretty damn cool.

after my first disappointment with who would be playing, though, i began to lower my expectations. for instance, last year, Sting's Son's band played. woo-friggen-hoo.

... this year, though, things may be different. no one knows who is playing, i mean no one. there are no rumors. and they've been setting up the stage for 2 days now. all the equiptment boxes have been covered so you can't see the band name. and i can't help but speculate, now that the iTunes Music Store is doing so well, especially with the announcement of the 100 millionth song countdown giveaway, maybe, just maybe, someone superfabulous will be stopping by. i mean, it's happened before: Smashmouth played at MacWorld New York 2 years ago.

:) or i could be wrong. but the point still stands: i'm super curious.

ok... some updates: i didn't go to the U of M party last night. After dealing with both AAA and Verizon (AGAIN) yesterday, and after being at work for a million hours, i was just too whiped. so i picked up some pf chang's and a bottle of wine and crashed hard. i'm still tired, actually.

more news... today is my 6 month california anniversary. that's right, i've been here for 6 whole months. i've been trying to think what this signifies, if anything. whether the time has past fast or slow, i can't tell. i don't know if i'm happier here, overall, than i was at home. i'm not completely used to this state in general, but i'm getting there. of course, being here for 6 months means that i haven't had sex for 6 months which is pretty damn pathetic, but, life goes on. i still have my job, which is a good thing. i have another 6 months to figure out if i want to keep living in mountain view, or if i want to move to the big city. i haven't been to new york in 6 months. that's way too long :) barb, if you weren't on notice before, consider youself on notice now: i need to be in the city, soon.

oh well :) i'll ponder 6 months more later, i have to get back to work.
