Background Noise: There is Life Outside your Apartment, Ave. Q*
Last website visited: the rounds
Mood: happy is what happens when all your dreams come true... isn't it?
Right now i want... coffee to kick in, maybe an umbrella... :) but really, i don't mind being in the rain.
Happy Birthday Mommy! :) just in case you've found this blog and are reading right now, i have to say that again. i'm so glad i got to be home - i wish i had had more time. oh well, that's what christmas is for.
Well, news: I Voted. Last week, at home in michigan, absentee at the Clerk's Office. So, people in California have been asking me why i voted in michigan and not california: ok guys, here are the top 3 reasons, pay attention:
There is this massive dichotomy between life in Michigan and California: at home, there are a million things to do, people to see, obligations to fulfill, such that every waking moment of the days are full - tiring, but fulfilling. Now that i'm back in California, once again (yes, i'm going to be a broken record, sue me), there is work and then... what? when i made it home last night i was exhausted, yes, and i needed an hour or two by myself to decompress. but after that, i wanted... something, specifically with other people. it took about 2 hours at home to get used to being social on a large scale again and i hate not having it here.
Of course, coming back hasn't been all bad: Sunday after i got off the plane i went to Pixar for an advanced screening of The Incredibles (which is, as the name implies, incredible). My favorite part? seeing the concept art gallery on the second floor ;) and the starry night lights on the ceiling of the screening room. also, i became an advocate for digital projectors. holy crap the quality was stellar. it was flawless, truely beautiful.
:) and i did get my wish: it's raining.
California isn't a bad place to be or work... i'm just not used to being here yet, and that's always more obvious after i've been home.
*fun side note: one of the MT guys i know from school had a call back for Ave. Q on broadway this weekend. i don't know how it went, but i'm crossing my fingers! :)

- 1. Michigan is a Swing State, California is not.
- 2. There is a Marriage Amendment (Proposal 2) on the Michigan ballot that i had to vote against (if you're in michigan now, please look into this proposal)
- 3. and most importantly... i haven't gotten my california license yet, so i have to vote in Michigan.
