Background Noise: A Knight's Tale (thanks, tbs!)
Last website visited: firefox... finally on my parent's machine
Mood: mmm, vodka and lemonade....
Right now i want... oh boy is that a loaded question.
First off, Merry Chirstmas, Happy Holidays and all that good stuff: i hope that you have had a lovely break so far, and that you got everything you wanted for your respective celebratations.
I suppose i've stopped expecting anything for christmas -- either that, or i'm still so out of it, so stressed, so entrenched in whatever is immediatly necessary that i haven't had time to realize what day it is or what i should expect. Sorry for the lack of variety in my language tonight, i just can't really think of any interesting syonymns right now. Perhaps the vodka is to blame, who knows.
Anyways, to get back to the story, i've collected a lovely assortment of checks and gift cards in the past few days -- which i'm sure i will put to use sooner rather than later. I'm also sure that i haven't had enough sleep since i've been home, or enough break in my break. But that's a completely different story all together.
I've been doing a lot of running around since i've been home. Visiting friends and relatives and generally finding excuses to be out in the cold, the snow, or driving around just because i bloody well CAN. I love the weather; the world around me should be on the front of a christmas card or the opening for a Hallmark made-for-tv romantic-but-heaven-forbid-we-include-any-actual-romance movie. The night I arrived home after an annoying series of flights and one interesting sprint across the Dallas airport it snowed 10 inches; if nothing else, proving that i have a knack for good timing.
Actually, this whole trip has been a series of fatalistic tricks of good timing. My flights being delayed and late and whatever turned into me arriving at the right time to allow for a nice dinner before the movie my family was dying to see (me, i just died while seeing it, but that, again, is another story). My first round of visits? again touched by the good timing angel (and here i thought she was in Florida this time of year, go figure).
So many adventures and stories just from the few days i've been here -- too numerous to lay down now, not only because i'm just a little tired and a little tispy. I suppose the sum total is that i'm so very very glad i'm home. Though, once again, i feel as if i've only woken up from the dream of living and working in California.
Perhaps i just don't know how to relax. Though, i have to say, there were a few hours thursday night when i felt safe and comfortable, at peace and at home. And i was stupid enough to leave.
But Sir Ulrich is about to be revealed as a commoner and my drink is perilously close to being empty. I just wanted to take a moment to write down where i am. Good night.
