Background Noise: Build Me Up Buttercup, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies

Right now i want... more of my sangria... talk about getting it right the first time :)
So! what has last friday's post taught us, ladies and gentlemen? that's right! odd/strange/perfectly-normal-in-some-other-circumstance formats are fun! woo hoo! i'm going to have to use that more often, just not today. Let's see, where to begin?
1) Pardon My Vent. Apparently finding a flaw in a knowledge-base article and asking for it to be fixed before there is further speculation on the correct (new) behavior of an application is enough to get snubbed and snipped at. Since FCE HD finally hit shelves this weekend and customers have started to install and use their copies, questions about how HD works have popped up on the apple discussion boards (which i'm lurking on to see if there are any major problems).
Some newbie asked how he could import an iMovie timeline into Express HD when one of the board moderators said that it couldn't be done and pointed to a kbase article! OMG! Needless to say, the face that we DO import iMovie 5 projects is a key new feature and i was furious that our documentation on this subject was wrong. I emailed the moderator clearing up the confusion and sent an email to our docs guys explaining the problem and asking them to fix it. They replied that the article was based on a bug (which they read wrong) and had been approved (by some panel that didn't include qa or engineering) and that i was wrong. Because, obviously, their docs are right and i don't know what i'm talking about - i only work 3 feet from the engineer who wrote the feature; whatever. Docs copied the email to qa who sent it to our PM who thankfully cleared everything up and asked docs to fix it (saying there must have been a mistake made by the approval panel; whatever).
I'm glad everything was cleared up, but i'm annoyed as hell that legitimate problems were just dismissed out of turn like that. Our documentation needs to be correct, period. Grr.
2) Guests! But! Elle and Phil are coming out to visit! Now, this isn't entirely news because Elle has been talking about flying out after her U of Minnesota interview for a while, but i only heard about actual plane tickets this morning. They're coming on a wednesday, i'm going to drive them up to the city to play thursday and friday, go back and get them on saturday and they fly home sunday.
Of course this is going to be over the same weekend i was going to head to NYC... sorry, Barb, i'll make it eventually! Besides, i'd like to see those pretty gates after there are a few buds on the trees.
3) Star-Crossed Week. I'd like everyone to take a deep breath and cross your fingers for my friends who have major performances this week. Al has her senior showcase in London tomorrow, and Tobey has his first performance at Lincoln Center in Gianni Schicchi on wednesday. Yay for talented friends! Good luck, guys, i know you're going to blow everyone away with your talent.
4) 732 and counting.
5) Of Spigots and Spouts. When i went into my bathroom this morning to take my shower and tried to turn on the water the knoby-thingy that turns on the water came off. No water, no shower. Ew. Good thing i got those hair clips yesterday.... Hopefully manager-Bill will have fixed it by the time i get home.
... and now i need coffee. Happy Valentine's Day, guys.
