Right now i want... it's a gorgeous day

So when i was driving into work this morning i saw a car with a new spiffy looking license plate; this one:

and, well, i want one. now, i realize that i want a lot of things -- like this beautiful necklace -- and while some of those things aren't attainable at the moment, the license plate and the necklace are. And when i feel comfortable spending money again, i will get them.

The plate is pretty, isn't it? and it will go well with the pearlescent blue finish, it isn't tacky, the money goes to the conservation fund, and it will help my car be distinctive. Speaking of distinctive, my MICHIGAN ENGINEERING sticker showed up yesterday (thank you SO SO much, Dan!)... however, my windows are tinted so unless you're sitting inside my car and look back at the trunk window it's pretty much impossible to see. Oh well.

Oh, and one more thing. I pose a question to the void (and please leave a comment if you have any suggestions). I mentor a female computer engineering student from U of M; which basically means twice a month i send her email and she sends me something back. Here's the problem: i dread getting email from her. Not because i don't want a mentee, i wouldn't have agreed to be in the program if i didn't have the time. Nor is it because i feel i don't have anything to say to her; we have quite a bit in common: we went to the same high school, same college, know the same people, and she's my little brother's age.

I hate getting emails from her because she can't seem to put a coherent sentence together and reading what she sends me is akin to fingernails down a chalkboard. It's gotten to the point where i feel i have to say something - for her own good - because i'm embarrassed to admit that we've come from the same schools, and if i don't say something now she will be penalized when she looks for a job.

But what do i say? "Um, honey, have you ever taken a grammar class before?" Or do i just suggest that she take a writing class for diversity in her schedule and hope that the professor she draws will read her the riot act? And even more importantly, is this really any of my business?
