Mood: when am i?
Right now i want...
This probably goes without saying, but i'm going to say it anyways: Batman Begins kicks ass. As the New York Times said,
Yummy. Christian Bale, probably my only real big-time-long-time movie crush, continues to impress and shine in his turn as the tortured Dark Knight. Mmmm... knights. I think i read a cheesy romance one time about a knight; maybe i'll look that up again.
Oh, yeah, i should probably just get this out on the table while i have the opportunity: i read romance novels. Not exclusively of course, but almost nothing beats a well-written cheesy romance with a movie in the background, a few candles, and a nice bottle of wine to relax one after an especially trying day. No, there are no bubble baths included; i break type with that point.
I also read chicklit. And Nonfiction. And Literature (classic and not so classic). And science books, historical novels, political dramas, plays, poetry, children's books, young adult fiction, magazines, even the occasional graphic novel. Not to drag myself into the old, ridiculous, cat fight that you can only like romance novels or chicklit, well, actually no, i'm going to dive right into this one.
The idea that you can only like, be entertained by, enjoy, or find a need for only one genre of any medium is the brainchild of very bored people who are looking for a fight under every rock and turn of phrase.
... anyways. i really don't need/want to get into this now, i have some serious debugging to do. besides, i seem to have rambled away from my original intent of this post. how surprising. anyways....
go see batman.

Conceived in the shadow of American pop rather than in its bright light, this tense, effective iteration of Bob Kane's original comic book owes its power and pleasures to a director who takes his material seriously and to a star who shoulders that seriousness with ease.
