Let there be bass

Mood: bass, bass, beautiful bass
I finally did it: after years and years (and years) of hemming and hawing about buying speakers, i finally laid down my $90 for this adorable set of JBL Creature Speakers.

Let me tell you, i had forgotten what i was missing where it comes to audio quality.
I had convinced myself that my laptop's speakers were just fine, thank you, that the quality was good enough for the office (where i spend most of my time), and my audio needs weren't great enough to warrent spending almost $100. I mean, there are some really cute velevet blazers you can get for $100. And shoes. Let's not forget the number of books or dvds for that same chunk of change, either.
But now that the speakers are here, and i'm hearing bass lines that i had forgotten even existed, i'm pretty happy with my purchase.
... and i'm realizing that while these speakers are just fine, there are better ones for only $100 more....
And so the madness starts.
This is why i don't buy gadgets - i get sucked into the quagmire that is "but for $50 more..." and "the new one comes out in december!" Oh well, i'm still glad to have my music back. I should really wait at least a day to start griping about my new toys.
In other news, Slate has a question for Judge Alito (Bush's nominee for Justice O'Connor's seat on the Supreme Court): Why do you think it's constitutional to treat a pregnant woman like a child?
